The dissipation of heat at high power densities, the protection of components and possible undercuts, the compensation of stresses, and much more require the highest standards for a permanently stable potting material. Our Novasil® potting materials can be optimally adapted to your applications and, among others, offer the following advantages:
Use our OTTO product filter to easily find the right potting material that meets your specific requirements.
The flow behaviour of potting materials is particularly relevant when working with them. The viscosity should be adapted to the conditions of the components. The self-levelling can, for example when using a low viscosity potting materials for components with gaps and undercuts, avoid air pockets when filling and thus achieve the best-possible protection of the components.
In the case of high power densities in components and therefore any resulting hot spots with a high temperature load, sufficient thermal conductivity of the potting materials used should be ensured. Our Novasil® potting materials have different thermal conductivities depending on the product and application and can therefore optimally dissipate the heat in the components so that the service life of the components is not negatively impacted by higher power densities.
Applications with high thermal loads require materials that withstand these loads without compromising their properties. By using high temperature resistant potting materials, the installed components can be permanently functionally connected to each other and protected from high temperature fluctuations. Our high temperature resistant Novasil® potting materials have different temperature resistances of up to 250°C so that we are sure to find the right product for your application.
Depending on the application, there are different requirements for the reactivity of the potting materials used. Some potting materials of our standard product range are therefore already available ex works with different pot lives so that the handling time can be perfectly adapted to the present application.
Potting materials must be able to compensate for stresses that occur in components. That is why the mechanical properties of the potting materials or the end state after curing play an important role when selecting the right product. Our product range has potting materials with different shore A hardness grades as well as soft gels to cover a wide range of applications.
Potting materials must have self-extinguishing properties in many electronic applications. Fire tests, for example, define by category (V-0, V-1, V-2) a certain gradation over time in which the self-extinguishing must occur. Special additives and fillers in our Novasil® silicones improve the fire behaviour in order to fulfil the UL 94 criteria.
Our offer of potting materials is completed by our customer-oriented services. We will be happy to assist you at the start of your project with our many years of experience and extensive technical knowledge when it comes to developing custom solutions.
Our Business Development manager, Markus Falter, will be happy to receive your enquiry.
