It's simple: Adhesives are increasingly replacing mechanical joining techniques in construction. The application areas from bonded windows and façade elements to expansion, refurbishment and renovation are more diverse than you may think at first glance. Depending on the materials used and the requirements for the specific adhesive application, you need a product that perfectly meets the prerequisites. This is the only way to achieve a satisfactory result after bonding! In order to cover this wide range of applications, we at OTTO have an adhesive product range of over 20 adhesives.
We divided our adhesives into 4 systems based on their properties:
Primers are bonding agents, which improve the adhesive adhesion on porous or problematic substrate. The primer leaves a film or bonding residue behind on the subsurface on which the adhesive can form a better bond.
Anhydrous adhesives based on silicone, hybrid and polyurethane can be temporarily transported and stored at below-zero temperatures. Permanent storage at temperatures below 0°C is not recommended, especially because processing of the "cold" adhesives results in delayed hardening and most products have a firmer processing consistency at cold temperatures when they are removed from cold storage and then processed immediately.
Other tips:
Water-based adhesives on a dispersion acrylate basis, as well as OTTOCOLL® P 270, are not frost-resistant in their unprocessed state and must not be stored or processed at temperatures below + 5°C while they are hardening. For a short time, some dispersion acrylates are resistant during transport to temperatures down to - 10°C for a maximum of 48 hours. The information provided in the relevant current technical sheet must be observed for this.
After complete hardening, dispersion acrylates are permanently resistant even below + 5°C.
