Why bond in drywall construction?

Safe and quick bonding

  • Safety in drywall construction thanks to tested quality
  • Prevention of damage
To underfloor heating, cables, pipes, etc.
  • Certified higher sound insulation
Compared to fastening with screws and sound insulation tape.
  • Saves time
No waiting time due to absolutely strong initial adhesion.
  • Uniform load
Due to continuous bonding, no load peaks at individual points.

Simple installation

  • Quick & easy installation
Very simple, easy to understand application.
    Read the installation instructions now
  • Quiet and clean installation
No noise, no dust. Important for inhabited or noise-sensitive areas.
  • No screws required
UW and CW profiles can be attached using adhesive.

Step-by-step instruction

6 simple steps to a perfectly bonded stud framework.

Step 1: Preparation of the substrate

Ensure that the surface is clean, free of dust, grease/oil and, above all, stable. In the case of mineral substrates (concrete, plaster, etc.), this can be done by thorough sweeping or vacuuming.

Step 2: Determine & mark mounting points

Determine the mounting points and mark them with a chalk line or a laser pointer.

Step 3: Clean the underside of the profile

Now cut the profile to the required length, place it next to the marking with the adhesive surface facing upwards and clean it thoroughly with OTTO Cleaner T. Make sure that the surface is dry, free of grease and dust.

Step 4: Apply adhesive

Place the V-seam nozzle with the tip pointing upwards at a right angle (90°) to the bonding surface and apply the continuous beads of adhesive at a distance of approx. 2 cm parallel to the profile edge. Please note that one bead is required for a 50 mm wide profile and two beads for a 75-100 mm wide profile.

Step 5: Align and press on the profile

Turn the profile over within 10 minutes and align it with the marking. Then press it down firmly and evenly.

Tip: A square timber in the U-opening can provide support. Take care to avoid slipping and install the profiles on the ceiling and the connection to the wall in the same way.

Step 6: Panelling

Insert the CW profiles perpendicularly without waiting and plank the stud frame as usual.

FAQs - Questions and answers

Why is bonding better than drilling?

Bonding offers a fast, clean and reliable alternative to traditional fixing methods in drywall construction. By using certified adhesives, work can be carried out more safely and efficiently, and sound bridges can be avoided. There is also no risk of damaging pipes or cables when drilling, as in our example:

What substrates can I bond to?

Bonding is possible to many substrates including metal, wood, plaster and concrete - as long as they are clean, dust-free and stable.

How does bonding affect sound insulation?

Compared to fixing with screws and sound insulation tape, OTTOCOLL® M 560 provides a higher level of sound insulation. We have had this officially tested by PfB GmbH & Co. Prüfzentrum für Bauelemente KG.
